Friday, 10 July 2020: takeaway has new additions added

And the people have spoken! We're pleased to announce that our freshly shucked oysters will be on the takeaway menu.

Thanks to all who voted and congratulations to our winner @emily.james.lauren on Instagram! Just by voting for the winning dish, she's scored herself a $50 takeaway voucher.

With a wet and cold weekend forecasted, we'll be also offering the popular zucchini flower and cured salmon in betel leaves as part of the takeaway menu. We're doing our best to make your stay at home, that little bit more yummy.

Remember you can call or order at www.amokrestaurant.com.au/online-ordering from 5:30pm to 8:30pm for pick up orders and bring modern Cambodian cuisine home.

Tuesday, 7 July 2020: dining closed for six weeks

From midnight tomorrow, we'll only be offering takeaway dinner via our website or phone orders. Our dining will be closed following the Victorian Government's announcement to return to Stage 3 lockdown.

While restrictions are frustrating to live with, our health and safety is paramount. Given how quickly COVID-19 has spread, we understand the Victorian Government’s decision.

During this challenging time, let’s focus on our mental health and wellbeing. Be kind to one another, because it’s only through unity and empathy, that our community can get through this.

Stay safe and we’ll see you in six weeks’ time.

❤️

Unfortunately, we were burgled last Friday and our delivery bikes were also stolen. Therefore, delivery will be unavailable until we work through a replacement.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Wednesday, 25 March 2020: we're shutting from Thursday, 26 March 2020 until further notice

With recent events and new government policies, we’ve made the heartbreaking decision to shut amok restaurant for good from tomorrow until further notice. With our staff's health our priority, we felt it was best that they also stay in isolation and not risk potential exposure to Coronavirus. In addition, in reviewing delivery options, the commission is too steep for our small restaurant which would mean we would continually be operating at a loss.

Therefore, tonight is the LAST NIGHT to have takeaway with us so call 03 9525 0499 to place your order for pick up.

With so much uncertainty, we don’t know if we’ll know if amok will open again so for now, we say aww-khun chraen (thank you very much) 🙏🏽 for your love and support.

You made amok special for us and kept us going through every high and low. Hopefully we will reconnect again in future.

Friday, 20 March 2020: COVID-19 update, introducing takeaway, and reduced trading

Our staff and customer's health is our priority and during this time of heightened anxiety, we are keeping abreast of the facts and new policies as they are announced.

We ask that you visit our FB and Instagram pages and website for the latest information about opening hours, news updates and modes of operation.

Protecting our people and our customers

amok restaurant will stay open on Tuesday to Saturday evenings until otherwise instructed by government authorities as we're a licensed venue under 100 capacity. However, in the interest of public health safety, we'll only be offering TAKEAWAY and PICK UP for our loyal and hungry customers.

We respectfully ask that anyone who is unwell, does not visit amok restaurant.  We have asked the same of our staff. Being a small husband and wife team with two young girls under three years old, we strongly wish to protect our family whilst continue to operate amok as best we can for you.

Dining in is suspended BUT we've launched a takeaway menu

The GOOD NEWS is that we're launching takeaway for hungry Melburnians. From Saturday, 21 March, our beautiful and resilient customers having craving for amok flavours can order takeaway for pick up only. Due to our limited resources and not being on ubereats/deliveroo due to high commissions, only PICK UP is available.

Download the takeaway menu HERE  and order on (03) 9525 0499 . To reduce contact, a credit card payment will be made prior to pick up. Please your ID ready to show us to minimise contact and quickly pick up your order.

As this is a new world for us, we ask for your patience while we work hard to extend the amok dining experience into your home. It may not be perfect but we are certainly going to give it our best shot.

You can read our letter to our customers here

THANK YOU for your ongoing support, and we wish you and your family all the best during this challenging time.

Love always,

Woody, Chanthida and team amok

Friday, 13 March 2020: Helping to limit the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We understand there is growing anxiety with the latest update on the spread of Coronavirus and increasing cases in Australia. We're still open for guests to enjoy dunner and we want to ensure you that we are actively practising health safety and hygiene including:

  1. Increased focus and maintenance on personal hygiene for all staff.

  2. Increased cleaning and sanitising procedures within the amok kitchen and dining area.

  3. Team amok is regularly updated about news, policies and recommendations from health authorities on how to monitor for signs of the illness

  4. Team amok members are asked to refrain from coming into work if they exhibit symptoms or are at risk. We ask our guests to self-isolate and not visit amok until you have recovered so as not to risk the health of others.

Coronavirus is a serious pandemic and due to its changing nature, rapidly spreads. We understand that these are uncertain times, however what we do know is that if not contained, Australia could follow in the footsteps of Italy.

Take care of yourself and each other.

Love,

Team amok
